Sometimes simple is best. After all, drinks don't need to be complex and have a long ingredient list to be good. Aperol Soda Cocktails may be the easiest drink to make and are so light and refreshing that they are great any time of year.

Why you will love this cocktail
✘ It's lower in alcohol. Aperol only has a proof of 11%, making it ideal for cocktails that are not as high in alcohol content as a traditional Gin Martini or Vodka Gimlet.
✘ It's gorgeous. The bright orange hue of Aperol makes for a stunning cocktail. The bubbles from the club soda add the effervescence that prosecco adds to an Aperol spritz without the additional alcohol.
✘ It's different. An Elderflower Gin and Tonic or Cape Cod are my go-to easy cocktails, but this Aperol Soda is a tasty way to change things up.
Ingredients
You only need 3 ingredients for this tasty cocktail.
Ingredient Notes:
Aperol: Aperol is best kept refrigerated after opening to keep its fresh flavor.
Club Soda: When half of your drink is a mixer, use the best quality club soda you can find. We like to use Q Club Soda or Fever Tree Club Soda.
Blood Oranges: The deep hue of a blood orange is gorgeous in this cocktail. If blood oranges aren't in season, feel free to use a regular orange in its place.
Instructions
Have a couple of minutes? You have time to make an Aperol Soda!
Start by filling a low ball glass with ice. Add Aperol, top with club soda, and garnish with a blood orange slice.
FAQs
Aperol is an Italian aperitif that is very similar in taste to Campari but with half the alcohol.
It has a bitter flavor, so it's not something most people drink straight up or on the rocks. But the low alcohol content of Aperol makes it the perfect mixer for cocktails.
An aperitif is a refreshing cocktail that is consumed before dinner that is lower in alcohol and is used to stimulate the appetite. An Aperol Spritz is commonly served in Italy as an aperitif.
When it is stored in the refrigerator, Aperol is best consumed within 3 months of opening. Alcohols that have an alcohol content of 15 percent or less stay fresh longer when they are refrigerated. So pop it in the refrigerator after you've opened it to extend its shelf life.
An Aperol Soda is tasty any time of year. When blood oranges are not in season, feel free to garnish with a regular orange slice, lime slice, lemon wedge or even add fresh herbs such as mint or rosemary.
Tips to make the best cocktails at home
✔️ Start with quality ingredients. When a drink only has 3 ingredients, it is important to use the best.
✔️ Use lots of ice and make sure it is of high quality. Not all ice is created equal. Some ice made in a home freezer can have an off flavor. I love to keep a bag of ice cubes on hand to use in cocktails.
✔️ Store your Aperol in the refrigerator. Not only does chilled Aperol keep fresh longer in the refrigerator but cocktails are colder when you start with chilled ingredients. Cold drinks are the best drinks.
✔️ Don't forget the garnish. A simple garnish can make at-home cocktails turn into bar-worthy drinks. Attention to detail is always important.
